Simon is the Business Manager for dload and downloadmusic. He is responsible
for developing and implementing content distribution systems and interactive
communications for dload's corporate customers, including channel [v], BMG,
EngineRoom Music, Nestle, Microsoft (Australia) and Nova969 amongst others.
As a specialist in multimedia and online consumer interaction, Simon assists
in taking advantage of new technologies like digital rights management and
mobile telephony such as SMS.
Simon launched downloadmusic.com.au with his brother Chris (collectively
known as the Vella Brothers Circus Inc) and built Australia's first secure
digital music operation which was launched in early 2000 and continues to
provide cheap digital music services (DRM and streaming) to artists and
labels around the country.
Prior to starting dload, Simon was a solicitor for Blake Dawson Waldron with
particular interest in digital copyright, corporate
structures and tax advice for the rich and famous.
