I have always been passionate about music (particularly in supporting local
bands), and I first entered into the music industry in 1995. I felt there
was a lack of good music being taken out into the suburbs of Sydney,
particularly for those under agers who couldn't travel into the city to see
bands. So, I decided to start up and promote some All Ages gigs in
Parramatta, which I ran successfully over a couple of years.
This provided me with some great experience and contacts in the industry, so
when an opening arose at Murmur Records in 1996, I happily took the position
of Label Coordinator. I enjoyed a couple of years at Murmur supporting a
great roster of local acts, before departing the label in 1998 to commence a
university degree to further my knowledge and career. This degree was
however put on hold when I was asked to take over the management of
Something for Kate in Jan 1999.
My management role with Something for Kate has been extremely challenging
and rewarding, and there's never a dull moment. I'm lucky to work with such
a talented and hard working group of artists, and I continue to learn new
things every day. In managing Something for Kate I have found a job that I
love, and feel privileged to be involved with such an amazing act.
