In 1988, we released the first of what are now 43 editions of the 152-page biannual print AustralAsian Music Industry Directory. Within a year, we put the whole directory up on an electronic bulletin board and in 1994 it went up online at our IMMEDIA! site. Back then it was the first online music industry directory.
Now, 15 years later, we are proud to announce another world first as we introduce the AMID as an iPhone and iTouch app with all information from the print and online versions giving users the ability to dial numbers and send emails with one touch as well as access websites from their mobile devices.
As you'll see by the images below (from the iTunes site), the functionality is simple and seamless. Developed by Nick and Elliot Chance of Chance Media for IMMEDIA!, it's a ground breaking application for the music industry.
Sydney-based publishers of the AustralAsian Music Industry Directory (AMID) have released an iPhone & IPod Touch app--a world first in the music business. Bringing the functionality of their 22 year, 152 page print & online versions to a mobile device, the AMID app gives users the ability to hotlink email addresses and websites or dial phone numbers for thousands of music business contacts.
Priced at A$19.95 from the Australian iTunes store and US$16.99 from the US store (see URLS below), the AMID app is also being rolled out globally at other iTunes stores. The AMID app contains all details of updated listings in close to 70 business categories including Artists cross referenced by Managers & Record Labels, Booking Agents, Publishers, Venues, Music Media (Print, Radio & TV), Promoters, Studios, Associations and many more. It's updated twice a year.
As IMMEDIA! Publisher Phil Tripp explains, "We were approached recently by an old friend from the industry, Nick Chance of Chance Media, whose son skillfully programmed the app from our proprietary, copyrighted listing information. We've published the 152-page print Directory for 22 years, had an online version since 1988 on a bulletin board that evolved into our Internet model in 1994. Creating an Apple app was a natural progression to service our global client base."
"We're not just committed to the Apple platform, we've always been obsessed with using Macs to create all of our content for 20 years in print and online. Now our users can have instant digital access to all the contacts they need from everywhere they go via the AMID application on their iPhone or iTouch."
The AMID app provides a search facility, the ability to tag favourite content, or instantly dial or email contacts from the database of over 2500 highly detailed Australian listings. It also provides access to extensive information on genre, artist rosters, managers and agents, as well as enhanced business descriptions.
