AustralAsian Music Business Conference Survey

Following our biggest and most popular AMBC event, we sent out ten questions to participants asking for feedback, suggestions and criticisms. Not only did we want to know how well it went, what content mattered most and what outcomes attendees had, we also want to make the event better for 2007. Due to the large number of responses, we couldn't post everyone's comments but we have an array of responses that have given us food for thought and will assure that we make the 8th AMBC bigger and better.

These are the answers that we gleaned over the fortnight from the 7th AustralAsian Music Business Conference which we are sharing (without the names of the individuals) as a sequence of answers, in no particular order, to the questions we asked. We have posted the answers under the ten questions in order.

1. Rate your experience or satisfaction level on a 1-10 scale, 10 being best!

(  ) I rate this a # _ in content and a # _ in presentation.

What we've done here is an average of we received.

Rating 7.8 in Content and 8.2 in Presentation.

We had a huge number of 10s and 9s as you can imagine but balanced by other figures.

1A. Any comments to qualify this?

"The quality of speakers and the information was great, the occasional random honest comment came out!"

"This was my first AMBC and it was nothing short of fantastic. Although I am not an artist, nor a manager, but instead someone who wants to work in the music industry in the future, what I learnt over the 3 days was absolutely brilliant. I found all the panels very interesting and the representatives from different parts of the industry were an excellent source for being able to 'tap' into their perspective on such a broad range of issues. The presentation of the panels was fantastic and was really good to get to ask questions at the end."

"Even the sessions I thought would be useless turned out to shed a lot of light on things I wasn't aware of. I think the legal panel was really useful for anyone and everyone in the industry, as well as the corporate executive one that kicked off the conference. I think the Go-Global one was also fantastic, as it caught me by surprise, leading me now to believe in Canada and NZ as decent targets, as well as other countries long before I had thought of entering their markets. I especially liked the inputs from Di Torossian and Raena Lea-Shannon. Denis Handlin's speech was also very inspirational."

"This is the third conference that I have attended and, as usual, I thought that it was very professionally executed. It is always refreshing to attend a conference that runs on time and is moderated by someone who keeps the panellists and audience questions on the subject."

"Even though the content given at the conference did not relate to our niche of the market, I was still able to utilise the information to fit. The information was highly valuable, and I know it will all fall into place at one time or another."

"As my first AMBC I really didn't know what to expect. I thought it was run well and addressed relevant and interesting topics. The digital talks were of particular interest to me and addressed many issues that I was curious about and many that I hadn't even considered"

"The conference was fantastic. Being from Perth, it is difficult to find a central place where you can find out everything there is to know about the industry-- and meet everyone there is to meet. In a nutshell, you provided this as well as anyone possibly could in a 3-day package. I will now have the ability to take the nation by storm, watch out for us this next year!"

"I really enjoyed the presentation set up, I think the couches are a great idea. The only thing I would alter is possibly moving the lecturn further back or down when not in use as depending on where you are sitting it does block your view of panelists. In regards to content there were a lot of things on the first day that were irrelevant to my needs as it was more focused on artists that weren't developed in the industry, it would have been good to split the panels into 2, and have the first half about new artists starting out and the second

half about artists who are ready to be signed, though I did enjoy hearing the AnR speakers. The final day was the best for me, as I will be attending Popkomm this year and it was great to hear more about Int'l music festivals, though there was not a lot of info on Popkomm in itself"

"The content was extremely useful but I found it very difficult to sit through the first 2 hour session and watch other people talk. That is just personal opinion - I'm a hands-on kinda person"

"The content chosen was excellent and the presentation of the content was casual, informal, comfortable and professional. Would have been better with more audience interaction I believe."

"The stuff on the Itunes music store I found to be obvious (though I'm young), and the stuff on ringtones to be completely irrelevant. That was just rich people making more money! C'mon!"

"Content I found interesting but very intermediate level is probably the best way to put it and with limited networking within the attendees available (ie is upward networking:)) found it an expensive event to attend personally to hear a different slant on my existing knowledge.  As for presentation I tried no less than 6 positions in the audience on the Saturday and in each variation of where I sat there was always at LEAST one panelist obscured by Phil's laptop & monitors, I found this very frustrating to the experience."

2.看 What were your top rated sessions?

Overall, the top rated sessions were (in order)

  1. The New Digital Music Market: Downloads, Retail & Subscription
  2. Music Business Self Defence: Avoiding Bad Deals & Ripoffs
  3. Go Global; Secrets, Techniques, & Tips for World Domination.
  4. Matching Bands and Brands: From Ads to Film, TV & Games

2A. 看And who would you rate as the top three speakers?

Overall the top rated speakers were 1-10 in order

  1. Ted Cohen
  2. Denis Handlin
  3. Jimmy Little
  4. Michael McMartin
  5. Brett Oaten
  6. Annie Mackin
  7. Adam Zammit
  8. Flynn Gower
  9. Raena Lee-Shannon
  10. Roland Swenson

Comments we found interesting.

"Roger Sommers was extremely informative because of his experience in the industry and knowledge of the overseas market. Jimmy Little and Denis Handlin I enjoyed because they showed a positive light on the music industry, in a time where it feels that a lot of people are rather negative about the industry. I would like to add Phil Tripp as one of the top speakers, I thought he asked some valid questions and got honesty out of the panelists, his stories were also entertaining. Other speakers I enjoyed were the Saturday panelists, but I rate Jimmy & Dennis at the top because of their 'passion' and dedication to the industry."

"i particularly liked the A&R session. the way the guys bounced off each other rather than lengthy musings by themselves. i liked jay and diana a lot and wanted to hear much more. they were quick and receptive to the flow of discussion. on the other hand of course jimmy little's kind of sermon was very inspiring. but not everyone can get away with that.

It is fascinating to hear retrospection from such impressive people, but a little frustrating cos the sessions seemed so short! Apart from the obvious highlights, i liked kath mcabe. good combination of info and inspiration. annie markin (?) was inspiring as well and so smart it was good to know that she is in that position. liked the way she pushed branding. refreshing angles from heidi (on patronage) and adam zammit who put some reality into sponsorship. put a nice perspective on the gurus thing."

"Yes, these speakers touched on the humanity of music making, not just the (sometimes) cold & calculating marketing of it"

"Brett Oaten very good on the Idol deals; Adam Zammit - fascinating insight in to a whole new "industry" - sorry can't find a third on the Saturday!"

"All the sessions on the third day were extremely valuable, and I thoroughly enjoyed the session by Neil Dixon. The information given here was extremely valuable."

"Ted Cohen for his experience and insight into where it is all going.

Annie Mackin for her experience and good presentation skills.

Marshall Heald for his passion, knowledge and "on the battlefield experience": inspirational!"

"Ted Cohen blew everyone else away"

"Were informative as well as entertaining"

"All sessions were of equal relevence to myself but the stand outs were"The Artists & Managers Panel" & "Market Music In A Digital Age". My favourite speakers were Denis Handlin, Jimmy Little, Ted Cohen, Michael McMartin,Adam Zammit, Roland Swenson, Titus Day, Chris Moss & of course Phil Tripp. Look to be quite honest all speakers had their moments"

"I only attended the first day but thought that all the speakers were very good. Denis Handlin of course stole the show as only he would. His speech was very inspiring for new comers to the music industry. It gave the conference a very professional "kick-off"

"Annie was great in terms of forecasting where the music industry is heading profit wise and took on answers with a high business perspective and really knew her marketing. I liked the fact that she had numerous perspectives on the future; having worked in licensing, advertising and now technologcial fields."

3. Did you use ACCESS private area with registrant database, resources & articles?

    () Yes, before AMBC  ( ) Yes, after AMBC   ( ) Not yet  ( ) Don't care

We've found that 71% of the attendees did use the Access private area before attending the conference. 53% have used the resources after the conference.

Comments on the ACCESS Area we found interesting.

"This section is fantastic, in particular the articles"

"UNBELiEVABLE networking was done (and still being done!)"

"It's gonna take ages to go through it all but it will be quite valuable to us I feel (still in semi-startup mode)."

"The resources area is fantastic as it gave me background information on the topics that were going to be discussed. This lead me to coming in with more knowledge on the areas and actually know what the panellists were talking about. The list of registrants was useful in finding out who was coming and who I could possibly meet up with. It is good to have it open for a year from now and I look forward to the podcasts (a shame about Denis Handlin's speech though)."

"It's a great idea to have the resources available in order to obtain knowledge on the topics prior to the conference, as I have a lack of knowledge in some of the new technology areas, so it was good to read up before Friday. Once again I found all the information on exporting music very informative-i read these after the conference."

"It was good to get a feel of the people attending and to be able to research websites and so on."

"iTunes marketing link was worth the price of the ticket alone"

"This is something I intend doing but pressure of business has not allowed me time to do it. It is one of the top reasons I wanted to be involved so I could have access to the attendees. So don't discontinue it yet!!!"

"Will use this as a valuable resource."

"It was good to see the information before hand and have a read of this. It made for a more relatable experience."

"I had already looked up quite a few websites and names before attending the conference. I met some other artists whilst at the conference during coffee and they were shocked how much I knew about them when we were introduced. I researched before the conference who I wanted to meet and what questions I wanted answered before already going, I got most of these answered during the panel discussions anyway, but still have a little to learn about electronic press kits, though Neil touched on this a bit. I also wanted to know what other resources were out there that would make my business all the better."

"Was very handy to establish meetings over the 3 days before arriving. Gave me valuable head-room in organising my time."

"This was an awesome idea, I got a lot of background on speakers as well as other attendee's."

"Yes, before and after AMBC. I think it is an important tool for resources, networking, knowledge and continuing your 'conference' high!!!"

"THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT INFORMATION, AND GREAT INTRO TO THE INDUSTRY FOR

A VIRGIN AND KEEPING THE INDUSTRY PEOPLE UP-DATED."

"It was good but from what the speakers said there was much more information to be said. The music industry presents alot to talk about I guess. Warn the musicians next time that they will learn heaps more as they move into the process of business in music."

4.看 How'd you rate our advance processing, staff professionality & registration?

dvance dealings 1-10 (  )    Staff Attitude (   )  Registration procedure (  )

We found that the average score on Advance Dealing was 9,2. The average score for the staff's attitude was 9, and lastly the Registration procedure scored 9.3.

Comments we found interesting.

"Nothing's ever too much trouble for you guys!"

"It all seemed very organised and professional"

"I really didn't encounter any problems. Everything I wanted to know was already thought about."

"FAST, NO MESSING AROUND."

"Super professional, no problems with anything!"

"Excellent"

"Very simple and quick"

"Excellent communication and organisation."

"I rarely rate anything as a "10", but as I mentioned before, I rarely attend a conference that is run as professionally as the AMBC. The registration process was extremely smooth and every person that I interacted with in the process had great attitudes and handled everything perfectly."

"The first day I got there extremely early as I come from the Blue Mountains, it was freezing cold outside and the doors opened right on 8am, which was a God send. I don't think anyone encountered any lines at any time as I certainly never saw any, and being an animal lover Lisa gave me a free pet magazine, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I found the staff helpful and friendly, registration extremely organised, the show bags useful, the mic people great, the sound guy right on the money, and even the staff behind the bar and who were serving coffee were nice and would have a laugh."

"Regististration was quick, Apple staff were nice. Food was expensive, you should inform people that there is a cheap alternative to overpriced food in the form of McDonalds near the hotel. I spent 7$ on a crappy chicken ceasar salad that had not much chicken on it, i could have got a large quater pounder meal cheaper, that includes a drink and is more filling."

5.看 How'd you rate the room, audio, visuals, moderating & content?

  On a 1-10 scale room (  ), audio (  ), visuals (), moderating (), content ()

Scale room 8.7/10

Audio 8.9/10

Visuals 8/10

Moderating 8.7/10

Content 8.5/10

Comments we found interesting.

"Would have to be what I learnt and the experts that delivered it.

The information I gained over three days was something second to none. It was information that was very relevant and timely and is something one would never get from reading books. Having such important and significant people speak gave a true insight into their business and band/group/management.

(Also, Phil's demonstration of iTunes Music Store was great. Really good to see how easy it is and now I can look forward to it opening up in Australia, so it makes the purchasing of music so much easier)."

"I thought the room and the venue itself was terrific. The only thing that was a bit of a shame were some of the attendees, as they would tend to talk throughout the conference and I found this very annoying. The other thing I might suggest is to leave big signs reminding people to turn off their mobiles, etc, as quite a few of them were going off quietly during the conference, especially after lunch and tea breaks. It's also ashame that some of the people aren't bright enough to follow instructions when asking their questions, but what can you expect I guess, everyone in this business wants to be bigger than life and wants everyone to know their own self importance.I have already mentioned the audio and visuals in previous comments. As for content it was exactly what I was paying for, it was thought out extremely well and followed the booklet to a tea. The times were nearly spot on for each segment."

"The room I felt was a perfect size. Being in a room without windows I found helpful as you could not get distracted by the sunshine or movement of people outside. The lighting was perfect- very soothing and not quite dark enough to fall asleep. The audio was clear from where I was sitting during the whole conference. The visuals were informative, though I did feel the screen saver was a little distracting at points. The moderating was run perfectly, timing was impeccable."

"The set-up was excellent. I'm from a "variety" background so while not everything was relevant to me, I could see it's merit for the others."

"As this is the first time for me at this conference, I was impressed with all aspects however, I am sure that I would be more critical if I had been before. At this time in my personal career development and the career development of my collegues, it was at the right level."

"The 'look and feel' of the room was fantastic - felt very comfortable and was a great environment. The sound and visuals were pretty good. Sometimes sitting right in front of the speakers was a little loud but that was no big issued because it was only one session and moved next time! The video projection was great, although sometimes had a stiff neck turning to see the screens on the side of the room if you were sitting in the middle.

The moderation was great. No commercials, no extended rubbish talk and the messages were clear, concise and informative. The short and only one question is a great idea."

"I did like internet sites & other info changing on the screen during sessions."

"The room size was good, it wasn't too crammed. Visually, the screensaver distracted me. The moderating/content were great, the questions were insightful and led to useful discussions"

"Our admin staff actually made the bookings, and they seemed very pleased with the process. During the conference your staff were friendly and professional. Everyone did a great job to bring it all together."

"Could do with more new tips and angles for the independent musician"

"Some more visual aids would have helped, eg stats on the screens"

"Phil is a seemingly very knowledgable and personable fellow with a quick wit and critical mind. Definitely got the most out of the panelists. The room was a little low lit for me, hard to stay focusses in light so conducive to sleep. Liked the vibe though - red velvet etc. Visuals were fun. Would've liked to see some video clips, or live performaces evaluated or something along those lines."

6. What was the best thing to you about AMBC?

Any comments to expand on this?--

Here are a few that we've chosen from the vast amount received:

"DENNIS, TED AND THE CEO/ MANAGERS PANEL WERE SO POSITIVE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE INDUSTRY, NEW MEDIA, COPY CONTROL AND CONSPIRACY THEORIES THAT IT REALLY GAVE ME A KICK IN THE BOTTOM."

"The panel topics and the selection of the people who appear on the panels."

"Networking and information gathering"

"I thought it was a fantastic idea to have the conference in a place where there was no where else to go, this way everybody stayed in the area assigned which made it easy to network. This was my first experience of mass networking and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere in the area and thought the finger food was also of assistance and gave it a more relaxed atmosphere."

"Hearing industry professionals talk about what they are doing and being able to tell that what I am doing is on a similar track. Networking was OK as well. Being able to foresee the changes in technology and discuss them with people that are as like-minded as myself about the music industry."

"The people I met and the general buzz around the conference itself."

"Thought that I knew a lot about Digital downloads, found out a lot more!"

"Meeting someone I had been in touch with years ago, but never considered to be so successful today. Great!"

"networking, networking, networking"

"Getting uptodate and critical information all in one place. Meeting new people and not 'jaded' industry professionals."

"Learning something new every session ? different people, different experiences and points of view. FREE lunch and a FREE show bag."

"the experience and opportunity to meet people from the industry. proved to be an invaluable learning experience for me. The content however was a little obvious and not that eye opening."

"I think it would be insulting to say any one thing was the "best", because it was more like a maelstrom of experiences I didn't know how to bring about even individually. Everything was great."

"I thought the whole thing was great, well run, it was tight and you really did get some great people to give of their time and knowledge. I think your social and networking side worked better this year because it was all together in the same venue. So for interstate visitors we didn't have to try and find our way around Sydney suburbs."

"matching brands, & dud deal - these speakers really knew their content and were informative as well as entertaining."

7. Do you have any criticisms of AMBC?

"Getting to the location with public transport took almost too long to like it. Why not putting the event on in Darling Harbour or somewhere more central?"

"Would like a chance to meet more people, perhaps smaller break off sessions or similar interest groups or forums eg: share an understanding of music and meet people. Hard to explain."

"I would have liked to see more disagreements or conflicting opinions between panellists: this way I understand two extremes and can form my own opinion from there."

"Food could improve, would be happy to pay a little extra to have lunch included. Also location was a bit too far from the city - meant any other appointments needed to allow an extra hour for travelling to/from. This is the reason I missed the entire day on Thursday."

"The only criticism would be that it would have been better to provide lunch and charge more to cover it"

"It seems at this sort of conference that there are always going to be artists that anxiously want to give their CDs to presenters. Perhaps instead of having to ward this off, the next AMBC could have a competition, like Music Manager's Forum did recently with Perfect Match. Maybe managers/artists could send in a CD for judging or perusal by some of the presenters, depending on what category (eg publishing, management, A&R) and then there could be a session during AMBC where a few artists are selected to be critiqued???"

8.看 If you were tapped to run our next event as co-producer, what would you change, how would you make it better and what would you eliminate?

"Better Coffee. the free lunch was great - keep that. I'd like to see things like some display stands where industry could have tables for info, promo, a bit like a trade fair.. The APPLE demos were great, but there could have been some places where ( for instance) a smart label could have had some promo material, a person to take demos and talk to the artists about them, Music Australia and the NFSA could have had a stand to talk to creators about archiving and preserving their music...i suspect that there could have been some money to be made as well by IMMEDIA!"

"Would move to closer to city. Delegate option to include lunch. Introduce more artist showcases (nightly)

- more like SXSW. Perhaps introduce sessions catered towards artists separate from industry PD"

"make talks more focussed and content related. more visual/audio examples of what speakers are talking about, eg. more slideshows, music clips, etc. include speakers power point notes and other resources on a CD ROM w/show bag, a better show bag w/more industry stuff like the music industry directory,  apple stuff, cd samplers of music/software, etc. include flyers w/contact/site details for the speakers/sponsors - eg. jager uprising, SxSW, etc. i'd get more sponsors, and reduce the admission price."

"I would possibly add more content that applies to people in the music industry who aren't artists.  (eg: more on music publishing or some guidance on how to build a career as a manager).  That is all though, I found the conference to be near perfect."

"1. Give every panellist a teeny tiny speech to prepare before the interview

2. Make the laminate passes a little shorter so you can read it without looking like your interested in the other person's private parts."

"Alongside the larger conference, I'd have a series of smaller sessions in smaller rooms that run concurrently, so that attendees have to choose which ones they want to attend. These sessions would provide more scope for Q & As and make the sessions more relevant to all attendees at each session. It'd be good to also see more of a balance between music business representatives, academic speakers and also artists. To make it more fun, it'd be interesting to have an open mic night as part of networking (this could either be really good, or really terrible!!!)."

"As a co-producer I would suggest a more hands on situation with the guest speakers .. In other words make them more "available" mingle, talk one to one."

"I'd make it better by having an interactive group sessions where for one session a day all the different professionals break up into different areas of the room and the punters can circulate around asking appropriate questions of appropriate groups - a sort of a intensive specific mini seminar. Your know Concert Producers in one corner. Record Executives in another. Artist managers in another. So quality questions could be asked to specific professionals in a mini seminar type thing."

"I would like the sessions to be longer but I don't think that would be feasible whilst still maintaining the breaks for networking and Apple workshops... So I'll go with less stairs and more free booze. (RSA be damned!)"

"When I was attending I noticed that many of the audience were small players in the industry, with many of them trying to break into the market or get a leg-up. These people seem to want information and make contacts. To make the conference more relevant to them I would change the format of the sessions, at the beginning and end of the day I would have the major guest speakers, however in the middle I would have small 'break-out' sessions. The large seminars are good but did not encourage networking between attendees. Smaller concurrent sessions revolving around specific interest areas (such as one for managers wanting to break into the overseas market or a session for micro-marketing for bands or case studies of successes and failures).

The session would cater for 50 or so people with a moderator and several industry members who have had direct experience, they would be more of an interactive hands-on session lasting 1-2 hours. People could select the stream of interest."

"I would have a book in 5 min interview session that people could book into in advance to address issues with their preferred speaker.

This would give participants a direct answer to their personal work issue.

I would also as you did with a question session - have a comment session. Some of the statements made by panelists were outright wrong and dismisive of what happens in the real music world.Myself for example - I am not famous but my businness has turned over 1 million dollars in its short lifespan - and I am a successful promoter agent - performer etc.And I do have extensive knowledge of what is working and what is not."

9. Anything you'd like to see added or enhanced or the next one?

"I would love to see Phil run the conference in a conservative lounge suit -after seeing Ted Cohen, I fear that the Hawaiian shirts are becoming contagious..."

"The friday night networking with the bands were good & should be done again."

"It would be cool if you recorded everything that was said and had it available in mp3 for each session or something, because its hard to take so much information in all at once, and even when taking notes, you miss 60% of what's going on around you. Hell, you could even sell it to outsiders like a Tony Robbins CD-- it's a hell of a lot more useful!"

"I guess it depends on who the audience is made up of. I think it is hard to cater to professionals who work in the industry as well as struggling musicians who make up the industry. It would be good to get a few established artists perhaps to tell their stories and talk about "what not to do" in the preliminary stages of an artists' career."

"Was in some way disappointed with the number of artists that turned up. Once again I am in 2 minds. On one hand, I really liked the initiative and enthusiasm of the artists that invested the time and money to participate. On the other, there just seemed to be way too many kids trying to get their demo to the A&R panellists (for example). It seemed like there were more artists than industry, but maybe this is just a reflection of the shift of power in the industry to independent artists. What about a morning session just for industry? I guess it is difficult with so many self-managed artists now-a-days."

"- I think you could add an expo with more than just Apple exhibiting, new technology and products presented, college courses offering practical and music business courses, software, products like CD duplication, recording studios available for use etc etc etc. I find that Expo's spark my thinking on future possibilities in our business...

- I would like to see some smaller perhaps more specialised elective sessions, focusing more on education rather than information. Ie music business sessions - teaching on things that people in the industry should know but would be useful education for newcomers or smaller independents. Obtaining licences to record songs, royalty payments and calculations, how different Music Industry bodies relate in our industry, ARIA, AMCOS, APRA, PPCA - what are their roles how can they help, who should be a member...

(being in a music company I can only think of subjects relating to that side of things, but I am sure that there are plenty of subjects across many areas of music business)"

"More independent musicians talking about their experiences."

"More information on what's happening OS."

"I really liked the time given for each session including questions. Do not shorten that.

It's not only about entertaining the audience, but also about information and inspiration."

10. And finally, did you get value for your investment in time ( ) & money ( )?

Time YES: 89,7%

Money YES: 82.3%

"The investment of time was extremely worthwhile and memorable. As i applied for the early bird rate i feel I received a bargain. No regrets!"

"On the whole, an excellent experience."

"I went into the conference not knowing what to expect and came out with my head full of ideas. Its given me a great deal to think about. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to the ACCESS area."

"Yes, you made up my mind by killing any hope of having just a normal job songwiriting. Realise that it is an image driven society and so many talented people just fall to the pits. This will sound bitter but if Dennis Handlin said is saying its all about the content then why dont they put more money into this. For the amount they spend on marketing they could cut some of this and put it into songwriting as everyone knows a great song needs much less marketing and makes more money then half the shit that is on the market. Record and publishing companies don't put enough time into what makes them money. That is the songs. The reason I said yes to each above is that everytime I said I was a songwriter to somebody at the conference I could see a part of them laugh. Even though I have thousands of melodies (a few hundred are actually good) your conference made me realise there is no intergrity for just a songwriter. It is not your fault it's just the way society is. So not being bitter any more thanks as will persue other dreams. When make money elsewhere will come back into music and make it easier for creative people within the industry. And yes I did have this type of conversation with other songwriters and they agree. Test creative people if u can but don't let them be diheartened by the music industry."

"If you've read/experienced a lot in the music business, then many speakers simply confirmed what you already knew. Reassuring, but I could do with a little more hope. But I certainly wouldn't want speakers to give the impression that the music business is a pushover - forewarned is forearmed!"

"Great value. And many thanks to Phil and all the staff for a great show. What would the industry do with out you. A huge vote of appreciation for Apple as well, loved their little demos on their software, good stuff."

"The networking and witnessing people in the business was beneficial to my mindset of a career in the music business. The panels were a little less directed at what I expected. The issues were beneficial but were not relevant to my position. I found this to be true with other students that had travelled with the idea of learning about the music business, not how to break into it.

However, i am still happy that i attended. It was interesting, entertaining and gave me great confidence that i am heading towards the right career. Thanks."

"I'm not sure - I managed to get a couple of business cards, but I'm not sure an interstate visitor would be able to quantify the investment, without better, and even organized networking events"

THANKS again to all of our 710 attendees, 52 speakers, six staff and the SuperDome team that made this such a great event.
