IMMEDIA! is a diversified entertainment company, started by American "Reaganomics Refugee " Phil Tripp who sailed to Australia in 1981 after working in the American music industry for ten years.
IMMEDIA! is best known for its printed and online industry directories. The AustralAsian Music Industry Directory published each March and November since 1988 and published its 40th Edition, March 2008.
Though our leader took a two year break from PR in the mid-90s, he has come back to it making IMMEDIA! a powerful entertainment industry public relations firm with an enviable track record of artist, corporate, institutional and government clients. The PR division is now at the forefront of launching Internet, interactive multimedia and new media technology projects following a long history of promoting Australian artists and music companies into export markets.
Finally, the company also has an active consultancy and research arm which deals with the information and data communications needs of corporate, institutional and government clients. The Australian Film Commission, Austrade, Village Roadshow, AUSMUSIC, Disctronics, Export Music Australia and many major music and media companies have utilised IMMEDIA!'s services.
IMMEDIA! also has an information services side which provides an array of over 50 music industry books by mail order throughout Australia, Asia and the rest of the world. These range from US publications on recording and music business through to Australian books covering a wide range of industry issues from dealmaking to a vast range of overseas music directories.
In Music & Media is our weekly online music industry trade magazine featuring news, views and charts published every Tuesday, created in April 1996 with archives of past columns and editorial and located on the ultimate Australian music industry portal--TheMusic.com.au--which will unite all aspects of Australian music artists and music businesses.
Tied into the Internet and online services, IMMEDIA! utilises the latest Apple computer publishing and communications technology with a dedicated staff of professionals who have become expert at handling national and overseas projects through modern technology.
IMMEDIA! also produces major conferences and seminars, the latest of which is the AustralAsian Music Business Conference (August 20-22, 2009). Held every other year for five incarnations it features top entertainment industry and media speakers from Australia and overseas. In 2001 The National Entertainment Industry Conference (NEIC) and In 2000, The Music & Entertainment Media Online Conference (MEMO). In this area, the company has also arranged industry presences at overseas trade fairs - leading a group to MIDEM ASIA in 1995 for Export Music Australia and creating previous stands at New Music Seminar with Austrade and EMA.
IMMEDIA! created the Australian Online Music Awards (ONYA! Awards) in 1999 with sponsors Microsoft and OzEmail which has become an annual online webcast event in August.
