IMMEDIA! publishes the AustralAsian Music Industry Directory, a vital biannual music trade sourcebook containing detailed contact information for all key personalities and entities and available in print and online.
They are the Australian, New Zealand and Hawaiian representatives for the South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Festivals and Conferences, held in Austin Texas.
IMMEDIA! also produces a quarterly, glossy pet magazine called Urban Animal.
IMMEDIA! also provides an extensive array of music industry resources including a music biz bookstore and a highly-trafficked news site, themusic.com.au.
They seek a multi-disciplined individual to join their small 5-person team to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, full-time, in their converted-terrace Newtown office. This is a tight environment and as such you must be a team player.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing content, subscriptions and the continued development of the company's online presence. Sites include, but are not limited to, immedia.com.au, themusic.com.au, the Australian South by Southwest website and several book microsites
* Collate Music Directory artwork from advertisers; creation of house ads; layout of key sections. You will liase with the managing editor and a layout artist, hired specifically for the directory's production. You will also produce an online version of the Directory and help in the migration of Directory's content to a database
* Create engaging print and online promotional material for IMMEDIA!'s books, the Directory, South by Southwest and other projects.
* Work with the design and production of their quarterly pet magazine Urban Animal as a print and online publication.
* Supervise, maintain and back up the company's Mac computer network and mail server
* Teach staff basic computer skills and answer technical queries
* IMMEDIA! are the data drug dealers of the music industry, they produce a large volume of work and you will need to use your craft to present it clearly and concisely. In a nutshell we're looking for a Nerd Ninja.
Required Skills & Experience:
* An eye for clean design with strong visual communication skills. A keen interest in popular culture and interest in print publications and art design
* Intelligence in grammar, punctuation and spelling
* An interest in music is bonus
* Awareness and adherence to web standards, usability and cross platform compatibility
* Proficiency and prowess with Microsoft Office, FileMaker and the Adobe suite and the ability to produce compelling print-ready ads
* Savvy with online technologies: MySQL, HTML and PHP. Ability to develop an online store and work with complex databases
* Apple OS X expertise
o At least 2 years professional experience in web development and print design, producing work to prepress standards
o A clean and current Australian driver's License would be a bonus
